Bad Berneck, “The Hidden Paradise”, is the gateway to the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park, which is one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in central Germany. Embedded in a picturesque valley, where the Oelschnitz and Weiss Main rivers converge, and close to the world-famous Wagner opera city of Bayreuth, Bad Berneck is also the only Kneipp health spa in northern Bavaria.

Bad Berneck has specialized in the health teachings of Sebastian Kneipp for many years. Guided by the terms of the Kneipp five elements of health treatment, Bad Berneck offers guests a highly efficient and modern therapy. In our therapeutic center, a “Molken Trunk” cure, (a special drink made from whey), is the key element of healing, and helps in the normalizing of one’s blood pressure, cholesterol, and metabolism.

Bad Berneck offers wonderful attractions for the tourist: such as the historical market square, the KurPark, castle ruins, an open air theater, a dendrological garden, and countless walking and hiking trails. There are three thermal pools nearby. The pools at Obernsees and Bayreuth as well as the radon and brine treatment bath in Fichtelberg. Of course world-famous Bayreuth also offers many wonderful parks and palaces.

A special town jewel is the open air theater at the castle tower. Every summer season, from June to September, the city’s Castle Tower and its surrounding natural garden stage of rocks and greenery, is harmoniously converted into a natural outdoor theater. This stage is host for enjoyable operettas and dramas including delightful performances for the children. Step into the lovely Kurpark to stroll, hike, enjoy a concert, wade in the cool waters of the park’s healthy water trough, or just relax in this picturesque and serene environment.
